Satsang and Soul

Until recently in the Western world we have tended to compartmentalise the mind, emotions and the body as separate and distinct from each other and it is from this viewpoint that we have developed the current medical model which treats physical disease by considering only the physical body.

This approach has contributed much to the understanding and treatment of disease but it has also limited the evolution of a model in which a person's family and community relationships, together with their emotions and meaning and belief systems, are all wed together as fundamental points of connection between their energetic system, body, emotions, mind and soul.

Research is now beginning to show that unresolved past experiences, and their ramifications which include emotional suppression and disconnection from the authentic self, has a profoundly negative effects on the human body.

These effects include raising levels of the stress hormone cortisol, a hormone implicated in speeding up the aging process of cells. Another effect of unprocessed experiences is that of reducing or diverting blood supply away from vital organs.

Whilst there is now this growing understanding that working with the mind and the emotions might help the body to heal, the emphasis is unfortunately tending to one of domination of the body by the mind as in the simplistic 'mind over matter' approach.

Instead what needs to happen is that the unresolved issues from a person's past, with the attendant emotional processing that has become frozen in time, both need to be experientially connected with at the 'felt in the body' level. It is in that process that the psyche is finally freed to now move through the places where it had become stuck.

As this happens the issues from the past can then be metabolised by the psyche and integrated so that they no longer ricochet through the system causing physical mayhem. A person undergoing this process can find that their body then has the space to undergo its own natural healing process and recover.

Some of the physical diseases that have been found to be able to be linked to unresolved past issues and so are also open to the possibility of improvement include:

  • Heart Disease
  • Cancers
  • Autoimmune Diseases
